REMINDER: ALL APPOINTMENTS ARE MOUNTAIN TIME

The Naropa Writing Center (NWC) is located on the 2nd floor of Wulsin Hall on the Arapahoe campus. Come visit us with any questions or give us a call at 303-245-4606!

We are near the end of Spring Semester!
PLEASE NOTE the following important information for the busy end of the semester:

  • The last day for NWC appointments is Friday, May 3rd. BOOK SOON!
  • Writers are currently limited to one 50-minute appointment per day (unless you have accommodations on file).
  • Please do your very best job to cancel appointments once you know you cannot attend so others can take advantage of open appointments.
  • If you cannot find an appointment that works in your schedule, feel free to email nwc@naropa.edu and we will see if it is possible to accommodate you.

--

ATTENTION: We offer several styles of appointments.  Please read through the different styles of appointments below, and if you have any questions, please email nwc@naropa.edu.

Online appointments: Online appointments are synchronous appointments completed using this mywconline virtual space, meaning the writer will meet with their consultant using this online platform together at the same, synchronous time (think something similar to Zoom).

In-person appointments: In-person appointments are synchronous appointments taking place in the Learning Commons on the 2nd floor of Wulsin.

E-tutoring appointments: Asynchronous appointments (the writer and consultant never share space at the same time) completed through a file exchange of work. Please read below under 'Scheduling Instructions' for specific information on how to book this type of appointment.

When scheduling your appointment via this online platform, please make sure to check the appropriate box for the type of appointment you wish to make. Thank you.

Please note: During summer session, only online and e-tutoring appointments are available.  All three styles of appointments will be available in the Fall and Spring sessions. Thank you.

Basic Scheduling Instructions:

1. Appointments are available in 25- or 50-minute time frames.

2. Writers may schedule one 50-minute session per day. Clients seeking accommodations should contact the NWC director to request an exception to this policy.

3. Sign in to the scheduling system using your Naropa email. If it is your first time using the system, register with us by clicking the "click here to register" link near the top of the webpage.

4. When looking at the schedule, white boxes indicate when a Peer Consultant is available.

5. When booking, please make sure to check the box for the style of appointment that you wish to make.
If you are booking an e-tutoring appointment (please see above for clarification on appointment types), you will want to follow the following guidelines:
                           1) If you would like the consultant to review one - two pages of work, a 25-minute appointment is appropriate.
                           2) If you would like the consultant to review 2+ pages of work, please book a 50-minute appointment.
                           3) Please make sure to attach the file of your work to the appointment when you book the appointment (this is the very last option on the pop-up when you book your appointment.
                           4) Please try to let your consultant know what type of feedback you are looking for or what questions you have.  Please remember that we are not an editing service.
                           5) For the most part, if the above instructions are followed, you will receive written feedback from your consultant around the time of the end of your booked appointment. However, please note, that consultants do have up to 48 hours from the time of the booked appointment to respond to you.

To learn more about this service and to book your appointment, please head here and read the information before booking your appointment: Writing Center Asynchronous Resources and E-Tutoring Session Information.

To clarify, synchronous residential students are students who attend classes on campus and in-person at Naropa.
Asynchronous students attend classes online and not on campus.  At this time, asynchronous e-tutoring writing sessions are only available to asynchronous students.  Thank you.

Please note: During Summer Session, our hours are not set week-by-week.  If you are trying to book an online appointment and not seeing a time that works with your schedule, please email nwc@naropa.edu, and we will see what we can do.  You can always book an asynchronous e-tutoring appointment as well.

Cancellation and No-Show Policy

Clients must cancel appointments prior to 9:00 AM on the morning of their appointment. Appointment reminder emails are sent after you make an appointment with a Writing Fellow.

If you have 3 no-shows or short-notice cancellations (i.e., cancelling an hour before your appointment), your ability to schedule appointments may be revoked for the semester. Students must meet with the Head Fellow to remove the hold on their account.

We appreciate you notifying us as soon as possible, to allow for others to reserve time.

Waitlisting

Click the clock next to the date on the schedule to get on the waitlist for that day. Openings will be announced via email and/or text message. Appointments are not reserved automatically; if an appointment becomes available, you must reserve the appointment using the online system or you may call the center to schedule (first come, first served!). Contact us if you have questions.
